Consumer Information

Roofing warranties will only be as good as the company who stands behind them.  Most new roofing companies will go out of business in the first 5 years, therefore unavailable to honor warranties.  Use roofing contractors who have been installing roofs in the same community for many years.

With the recent widespread hail storms in the Atlanta area, hundreds of ‘pop-up’ roofing companies set up shop to take advantage of all the insurance claims being given to homeowners. In addition to local start-up companies, many more companies flocked to this area from out of state.   These companies travel from state-to-state chasing storms and hail damage.  Because they move around and are based out of town, it is very difficult to hold them accountable for shoddy work.  They usually use local subcontractors to install the roofs, making it even more difficult to control quality.  These companies are easy to spot by out of town phone numbers and vehicle tags.

Before work begins, verify both Workmen’s Compensation, and General Liability insurance by requesting a ‘certificate of insurance’ from the contractor, and calling the ‘producer’ who is listed on the certificate, to verify the policy is current and in full effect.

Be proactive in understanding the advancements in the industry in recent years.  Many products have come into the marketplace that can greatly improve the longevity of your home’s roof, as well as helping with ventilating your attic.
