Garage Doors & Openers

Consumer Information

In many cases, garage doors are one of the first things to see when arriving at your own, or someone else’s residence.  There are many times when garage doors can account for up to one fourth of the front of your home, or more!  For that very reason, it is a common practice for homeowners to put a lot of thought in the design and style when upgrading their existing doors.  With many styles and options to choose from, make sure you are well educated in the process.

Though they look relatively simple in construction, garage doors have many integral components, especially when driven by an electric opener.  A Garage door is a very large and heavy, moving part.  There are few major components of a home that are required to endure such a heavy amount of wear and tear. Therefore, it is prone to falling out of adjustment with daily usage. When this happens, the door may become very loud, or hard to operate, or get stuck in any position.

Because of this level of complexity, and the fact that a garage door must stand up against harsh weather, a garage door may suffer from several problems.  Generally, these doors should be serviced annually to maintain proper lubrication, alignment, and operate safely.

Because of the inherent danger with repairing garage doors and their high tension springs, always leave garage door repair to a professional. If, and when you notice a problem with your garage doors, address it immediately before it has a chance to worsen.
